Ian Karby
Coalition for a Resilient and Inclusive Waterfront (CRIW)
Ian Karby from the Coalition for a Resilient and Inclusive Waterfront is a project manager, public health educator, and licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy. Ian’s passion for guiding others to meet their long-term goals led him to graduate school, where he received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and increased his knowledge and understanding of the resilience of the human body, mind, and spirit. In 2021, Ian created Karby Connections to provide groups and organizations with project management, public health programming, curriculum development, and growing collaborative partnerships. While leading with empathy at the center of its mission, Tracey Lewis and Ian Karby founded Carroll Biel LLC in 2023 to focus on supporting organizations with social impact and community building.
Thaddeus Miles
HoodFit
Thaddeus Miles is an award-winning photographer, author, and community leader, and Senior Director of Engagement and Wellbeing at MassHousing. With over 30 years of experience, his work has focused on strengthening families, advancing housing stability, and building community across Massachusetts.
He is the founder of the BlackJoy Initiative and HoodFit, and co-creator of the Road to Wellness 5K, using movement and storytelling to address health disparities and expand access to wellness. A U.S. Air Force veteran and recipient of the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award, Thaddeus continues to center his work on one belief: that joy, health, and opportunity should be accessible to all.
Suzanne Walmsley
Boston Athletic Association (BAA)
Suzanne Jones Walmsley is the Director of Community Engagement at the Boston Athletic Association and has over 35 years’ experience in the sports industry. She has served as a coach and administrator at a variety of colleges and non-profits, focusing on sport as a way to build community and improve health outcomes. Known for her innovative thinking, Walmsley excels at developing impactful programming through partnerships and grass roots engagement. She has been recognized by the City of Boston for her work with youth and has received awards from the FBI and the 26.2 Foundation for community engagement. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run Greater Boston which was recently named the largest and fastest growing chapter in the world!
An active runner since high school, Walmsley had the honor of representing the United States as a member of Team USA. She still runs for the joy of it and continues to make new friends and explore new places by moving in community with others.
