Celebrate the arrival of Bridge of Joy at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
Join us on Wednesday, August 6 at 5:30pm for the Grand Opening of Bridge of Joy, a vibrant new art installation by internationally acclaimed artists Gillie and Marc. With support from local partners and generous funding from the City of Boston's Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture, this bronze sculpture series will be on display through July 2027.
Opening festivities begin at The Anchor, with remarks and a video introduction by the artists. Then, guests are encouraged to visit each sculpture on foot and enjoy family-friendly activities along the way.
Spanning the City Square Park to the Little Mystic Channel, visitors can:
Engage with the world’s biggest octopus, stretching 36 feet wide
Join the “Best Banquet in the World”, a whimsical animal dinner party
Share a moment with Rabbitwoman and her hippo friend, seated in quiet companionship
This installation is part of Navy Yard Garden & Art’s mission to bring world-class public art into the everyday lives of Charlestown residents and visitors.
Event highlights include:
🐙🎨 Face painting and airbrush tattoos
🍴🍦 Food trucks, ice cream, and take-home posters
